HTC Butterfly doesn't need root, Boldbeast Recorder records calls very well in two directions.

Please use these settings to record calls:

- Record Mode: 4
- Record Format: AMR
- Tune Audio Route: Group3

HTC Butterfly S  the call recording feature is disabled by HTC, you should root your phone, then Boldbeast Recorder can fix it.

Please use these settings to record calls after root your phone:

- Record Mode: 21
- Record Format: AMR
- Tune Audio Route: Group3
- Change Audio Controls: Yes
- Change Audio Driver: Yes
- Start Input Stream: Yes
