Android 8 and Android 7 record calls very well in all countries, no root needed.
Please use these settings to record calls:

- Record Mode: 1
- Fix Recording Issues - Tune Audio Route: Group3


Android 9
=========
After upgrade to Android 9, in some countries the call recording feature is enabled, no root needed, please use these settings to record calls:

- Record Mode: 1
- File Sampling Rate: 48000
- Fix Recording Issues - Tune Audio Route: Group3

However in some countries Android 9 disabled the call recording feature, as a result the caller's voice is very weak in recordings, no matter what recorder you are using in the market. In this case you should root the phone, use these settings to record calls:

- Record Mode: 1
- File Sampling Rate: 48000
- Fix Recording Issues - Tune Audio Route: Group3
- Fix Recording Issues - Change Audio Controls: Yes

Then the problem will be fixed perfectly.

I have Nokia 5.1 with Android 8.0, BCR works great.
Unfortunately there is upgrade to Android 9.0 available for this phone.
Does BCR work on Android 9.0 on this phone?

In some countries Nokia 5.1 Android 9 works great, no root needed, just install Boldbeast Recorder and go. However in some countries the call recording feature was disabled, you can only record your own voice, the caller's voice is very weak in recordings, no matter what recorder you are using in the market. In this case you should root the phone then this app can fix it perfectly.

how to find which countries?
nokia support won’t tell.
root is not available for nokia 5.1 so i risk no more call recording after upgrade to android 9
