Please add the ability to put custom hotkeys. For example - focus key (camerashutter1) on N8/808.

In Boldbeast Recorder you can select the Camera key.

Some keys are used internally by the system, third-party apps can't use it as the hot key, for example volume keys. When you press a volume key the system doesn't notify Boldbeast Recorder that the key is pressed, the system itself swallows the event.
When you use the camera key as the hot key, it may behave different from phone to phone. For example when you "long press camera key" on Nokia 5800 it will only start/stop recording, when you "long press camera key" on Nokia N8 it will start/stop recording and in the meantime start the internal camera software.
There are more than 100 Symbian phones supported by Boldbeast Recorder. Some phones may have special keys, these keys usually used internally by the system for special purpose. I'm afraid it's hard for Boldbeast Recorder to test and support all of them.
